The Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst certification is the nationally recognized standard for contractors in weatherization and home energy analysis.
This training provides a thorough understanding of Building Science, including weatherization materials and techniques, in addition to health & safety, indoor air quality and durability testing within the homes that you inspect.
Four days of classroom and field training, followed by BPI certification exams on the 5th day.
PACKAGE INCLUDES:
· Understand relationship between building envelope systems and other systems of the building, including insulation types and characteristics, air and moisture barriers, and other components of the building shell
· Learn techniques for improving efficiency and durability of the building envelope in existing buildings using the whole house approach
· Become familiar with best practices for testing envelope improvements including duct blasting, series leakage testing, infrared imaging, insulation installation, ventilation & advanced CAZ testing
· Prepare for BPI Envelope Specialist written and field testing to acquire certification
Class price of $1,550 includes: lunch, slide show binder, textbook (Residential Energy), the BPI Building Analyst written and field exams.
Students are encouraged to begin studying the book prior to class which will be provided with class confirmation.
The BPI Building Analyst field exam can be scheduled upon successful completion of the class week and written exam.
Those who wish to continue to EETC Energy Auditor Certification please see that class listing (an additional REM class, field exam and audit reviews are required).

The EETCKC Energy Auditor training meets or exceeds the Building Science informational and instructional requirements and expectations of the Building Performance Institute (BPI) for Building Analyst, and Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) for Home Energy Auditor. (This class does not cover the mortgage and HERS Ratings-specific components of the RESNET Rater exam). The EETC Energy Auditor training is accepted by the States of Missouri and Kansas
WHY: To prepare participants to: a) establish the “as-is” performance of residential structures, b) to prioritize improvements, c) reliably predict savings and d) guarantee results to customers.
The course is designed specifically to:
1) Provide a foundational knowledge of the energy use characteristics of homes; the physics of heat, air, and moisture transfer in buildings.
2) Teach participants to successfully collect data in the field, enter data into the REM/Design audit software, and complete a fundamental computerized diagnostic energy audit
3) Introduce the student to the Home Performance Contracting business model – an awareness of the market of computerized home energy audits and home energy retrofits
4) Provide basic technical and practical knowledge necessary to enter into the Home Performance Contracting market
Class price of $1,550 includes: lunch, textbook (Residential Energy), slide show binder, the EETC Energy Auditor written and field exams and REM Design computer modling desk reviews.
** To complete certification participants must also complete a field exam, and successfully submital of two practice audits for review which is included in class pricing.

REM/Design is a residential building auditing software program, created by Architectural Energy. Its application is an invaluable aid for auditors in making energy efficiency improvement recommendations and predicting energy savings for their customers.
A free 60-day trial version of the software is available for use during training and $75.00 off of software upon completion of course. This class can be also be arranged as an evening or Saturday class for groups of 4 or more.

This training was designed to provide supplemental training to RESNET certified auditors with no CAZ (Combustion Appliance Zone) or proper furnace training. This course is offered on an “as needed” basis for individuals or groups of students. An additional field exam, for an additional charge, may be required for some certifications – such as BPI Building Analyst or Energy Auditor for the Efficiency Kansas Programs. Class includes: 50 question practice exam (e-mailed upon payment), two hour in class review, and BPI web based exam. Included field exam can be scheduled with passing score of writen exam.
The Field Exam: is 3 hours and covers REM Design practical application, CAZ testing, Blower Door and math associated with audits.

The 2 practice audits for review: are performed by students individually, according to a set protocol, and submitted for review, one at a time, so that what the student learns from the first review can be applied to the second submission.
